Ryan had 198 career non-win "quality starts" (6+ IP, and 3 or less Earned Runs). He was 0-107 with a 2.27 ERA, 1.166 WHIP, & 9.77 K/9 in those starts.
Assume most of those games were with the low run support Angels. On a good team, his Win total would be much higher.
And a lesser known record: Ryan holds the modern career record for most wild pitches with 277. Guess when you let it all hang out and bring the heat - things happen - loads of K's, walks, wild pitches and No-Hitters. Kinda goes with the territory.

What's amazing is how drastically his control improved in the second half of his career. If he had that level of control in the first half the record books would've been annihilated. First half of his career was around 6 BB/9IP, second half was more like 3.8
