Conversely, what also amazes me is paying premiums for cards with sharp corners and a faded image. To me the cards value is in the image. I picked up a load of N173 cabinets in a recent auction with beautiful albumen images but with the Old Judge ad trimmed off. Probably got them for 25 cents on the dollar. Made me just stop and think how silly. How can collectors put more weight in a classic photograph just because it has good corners and an advertisement stuck on it? My gain I guess. OK, time to get off my pulpit.
