Jodi BirkholmFunny, we just lost two 1949 Yankees within a few days of each other--Tommy Byrne and Clarence Marshall. There are still a handful of surviving players from that team: Jerry Coleman, Yogi Berra, Bobby Brown, Charlie Silvera, Jack Phillips, Ralph Houk, Duane Pillette, and I'm pretty certain Fred Sanford is still with us. All in all, a pretty good statistic of living players from a team that played nearly 60 years ago.
