davidcyclebackThough they aren't trading cards, a collector can find 19th century cdvs and cabinet cards signed by famous people, from George Wright to Robert E. Lee. In the old days, cartes de visite (French for "visiting card" or "card to be given when you visit") were often made for the person to be handed or mailed out like business or calling cards. It would be natural for the owner of a cdv to sometimes write a little note and sign it.
