I don't think this is an outrageous amount to pay for this card. Like the Plank (and Wagner), it seems the value of the rare T206s is on the rise. People have already pointed it out, but I would rather have this one than a creased up copy that migh have the same technical grade. For the collector of rarities and error cards, you aren't going to find a copy of the most famous error card in the hobby for much less. Same goes for the T206 collector who is trying to get as close as possible to completing the set. Plank and certainly Wagner may be outside the range of consideration for many, but Magie sits on the cusp. Anyway, if it is a high price, I don't think it is by much if any at all. And I doubt the whole Mr. X thing had anything to do with it. If I owned it, I would get it reholdered without the Mr. X label.
