I'd say the attitude of the collectors who went to Nationa, vis a vis buying on ebay, is different. I returned with a vengance, full of regret that cards I wanted weren't there and seeing the high prices there as opposed to better prices on ebay. I bought several caramels and other cards, on and off ebay so now I really have the empty pocket syndrome. Some returned with more of a wait and see attitude.
I did notice at the National that I had developed the "ebay syndrome" though, as did a few other guys I talked to. In looking at cards we would immediately mentally determine what the same card would go for on ebay. That kept me off some cards, I confess. I also noticed that dealers who buy OR sell on ebay seem to have been slightly influenced by ebay sales prices, especially with regard to the few caramels I saw.
