You have a good approach. I believe that there's a book that came out in the last few years that takes that approach and also adjusts for the baseball park and a few other factors. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the book. If anybody knows the name of the book, feel free to let us know.
But according to the book, and after making all the adjustments, I believe the Bambino came out the top hitting outfielder which means basically he was the top hitter.
