Default Why are the top collections on PSA Registry locked out?

"Then why plaster it on the PSA registry in the first place?? Why not keep quiet until you have the set finished and graded? Seems like people DO bid others up, whether it is because they need the card or just for spite because they don't like the other guy. So why not keep a low profile until you have everything you want or think you can get??"

The registry can also be used as personal checklist for tracking your cards for that set as well as a database for insurance purposes. Some collectors even document the date of sale, seller and price of the card in the comment section and don't want that information made known to the public. The beauty of the registry over a spreadsheet is that it can be accessed from any computer with on-line capability.

I have six PSA graded sets registered and only one open (with scans) because it is a completed set and I have no interest in upgrading it. I agree with Anthony in that there an unfortunate mentality among rival collectors and unscrupulous dealers to use an open set as a means of exploiting an aggressive collector and that is why many, including most of mine, which are still a work in progress, are locked out.
