Paul, I bowed out with a $1200 bid. I figured the Gomez, O'Doul and the other cards (quite a few big PCL names in there) had a rough "value" of $650-700 together and just couldn't justify more than $500-600 for a Southworth with a chunk out of one of the corners. I too was hoping it wasn't noticed by the masses but those days seem to be long gone now. Fairly crazy price price if you ask me, but nobody did.
Instead I turned my bidding and won the lot of 130 1922 Zeenuts in the Clean Sweep auction last night--I saw the cards at the National and there were quite a few Seattle guys I needed in that lot. I will be having quite a few dupe 1922's after I get the lot though--which is always good for trade-bait.
