Default some sad news about a member of our community

David Grimes

Dr. David Grimes, 59, of Hopewell died Sunday.

Born in England, he had resided in the Hopewell area for the last 25 years.

He received his doctorate from the University of Bath and was employed at Wyeth-Ayerst Research Division of American Home Products for many years, serving most recently as research fellow in the Inflammatory Disease Division, publishing many papers in refereed journals. He was enthusiastic about collecting and was known and respected as an antique paper and ephemera dealer.

Son of the late Walter Grimes, he is survived by his mother, Betty Grimes of England; two daughters, Dr. Cara Grimes of Baltimore, Md., and her fiancé, Justin Marquis of Baltimore, Md., and Robyn Grimes of Arlington, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jim Saunders of England; former wife, Catherine Grimes; a personal friend, Lucy; and many friends and colleagues.

A memorial service will be held Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle, followed by a reception at the Hopewell Borough Railroad Station.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
