Default Interesting observation on a 1922 Babe Ruth G.G. Bain or is it a Conlon?

As seen here.. we have the very popular 1922 Babe Ruth Bain photo in its conventional 5" x 7" size. BUT we also have this Charles Conlon image that is exactly the same. It's trimmed down from it's possible size of 6.5" x 8.5" which is much bigger than the Bain and there's more image to be seen. The Bain photo is much more grainer. Is the Bain photo a Type 3? As seen, you can clearly see the the Conlon photo is much sharper without any negative imperfections. Both are certified "Type 1" photos. Curious if anyone has any input on this.

All the best!
