The 1952 All States Hobby Convention that Burdick wrote about here was the first time he had met Lionel Carter in person, after 15 years of correspondence. After Burdick's death in 1963, Carter wrote about that first meeting in Card Collector's Bulletin as part of a package of obituaries, and a decade after that, Carter published an expanded and revised verion of the article in the fall 1973 issue of Sport Hobbyist. I posted both articles here on Net54 a few years ago, and I've reproduced the 1973 article below for convenience.
