Only card I've had an issue with was earlier this year when I sent a card to someone who lives no more than an hour away from me in Maryland. The card went from Virginia to Maryland, then Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio again, and finally at the destination in Maryland. Took about 11 days to get there.

Ouch. That's insane. I've seen similar however. Here in Winston-Salem, NC - everything has to go to the hub in Greensboro, which is 25 mins away to the east. Even if you are mailing an in-city letter - yep. It goes to Greensboro first. I mean I get it (kinda...) but come on.
