Not that much help, but DW and I bought a house last year in Beaufort County, SC, not terribly far from where you're looking. It's close to the ocean, so we at least would get breezes during the hot summer months. (Yes, it gets hot and humid, but so does Cleveland.)
We don't live in it full-time, though, not until I retire.
