My understanding is that they were given out at card dealers in 1960. Valuation is a tough one given that they seldom come up for sale. I had a near complete set--missing just the announcer. They were primarily in lower grade, with most grading out between a 1 and 4, mostly due to pin holes. I put a value on the 19 cards (missing the announcer) at about $2500 at that time. Prices vary, and this set appears to be in better all around shape than mine was.
