But no one really ever says "he was a Boston player" about anyone.

And it doesn't seem like the hallowed OPS+ number actually accounts for it enough either.
Using the career numbers of Boggs and Gwynn again:
Boggs OPS: .934 home .781 road .858 total
Gwynn OPS: .859 home .835 road .847 total
Yet both have the same career OPS+ per season.
