Up to West Point to play Army came the fabulous Carlisle Indians led by the incredible, the immortal Jim Thorpe! Thorpe is ripping Armys line to shreds Army can't handle Thorpe. A dejected Army player on the bench dreamed of obtaining just a part of Thorpe's success. The coach calls out to the youth on the bench "get out there and give it all you've got!" They called his number on the first play! Taking a handoff and heading for the hole, he and the linebacker met with a resounding crash. The youth on the bench first and last play as he suffered a broken leg by his hero Jim Thorpe. "Sorry to so hard but no one runs through big Jim".

Strange are the ways of fate. 40 years ago his athletic feats thrilled the world, but today Jim Thorpe is a sick and forgotten man. And what about the unfortunate Cadet? Everybody knows him well General Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower.
