Default Should the A's be allowed to move to San Jose?

As a Bay Area baseball fan, I've closely watched the plight of the A's, who desperately need a stadium of their own to compete. But the Giants are doing everything possible to keep them from relocating to San Jose ...

Meanwhile, as the debate rages among Bay Area sports fans, commissioner Bud Selig — as he does regarding most subjects — remains silent on the issue ...

The A's are my favorite team in the American League, so I'd love to see them thrive. I wish the Giants would take the high road and let them move, but all indications are that they're willing to attack the move with an army of lawyers, which I guess isn't too much of a surprise. Both sides are saying they believe the commissioner will support their argument, which looks terrible because Selig continues to avoid the issue (just like he did with steroids).

Why has this issue remained unsettled for years while A's fans twist in limbo? Just like the Dodgers' recent debacle — and the Expos-Marlins debacle that preceded it — I place the blame on the commissioner. His title would seem to imply that's it's his job (at more than $18 million annually) to sort out this mess. That's what leaders do. But how can he do that if he won't even face the public and talk about the issue. He seems content to sit in a back room talking to lawyers while his bank account continues to swell ...

If the A's need to seek greener pastures outside the Bay Area, so be it. Let's get on with it. Bud, get off your tail and start earning your dough for once!
