On July 5 ,1954 Bill had hit 3 homeruns in the game and came to bat in the 8th with the basis loaded. He flied out to the center field fence, with one more run scoring, giving him 8 on the game. A grand slam would have given him 11 tying the AL record. ....Digression...The NL record is 12 held by two Cardinals, Jim Bottemly and Mark Whiten. Whiten did it against the Reds on 9-7-93. I watched it happen. Hopefull Bob did too
