Waite Hoyt? He was better known as an announcer than player, and would've known Ruth.

Never mind... After I guessed I checked. The guy didn't hit a single home run his entire 21 year career......

He could be the answer to another trivia question - What HOFer who played 20+ years never hit a home run?
