I don't think the $1,000 is that out of line, looking at the eBay sold item sales for complete sets. I'd price a bit higher, but the #68 is the vast majority of the value of a set.
I personally really like this set and have 79 of them, but it's very common and not very popular (even #68 is actually not that hard at all. The market does not suggest $2,000 is likely to happen.
