If indeed you are correct about the team being a generic one of no major importance, the question that arises is, why individual RPPC of more than one member of this hockey team if they were of no significance?

Yes, postcards could be and were produced for even minor league and community teams, as I've seen many of individual players like you mentioned, even some of very youthful players/teams, which would confirm very modest status.
