To taz's point though, when Deacon White, Ruppert and O'day went in, it was the lowest attended induction ceremony in decades. How many guys from the 1800's can get put it without a living candidate to draw the crowd? True, the HOF doesn't want shutouts, but I think that onus falls more to the current BBWAA voting procedures, and the Hall changing that structure, than it does to a committee that selects players from a century ago.
