Something to keep in mind is that, largely because of the often prohibitive cost of upgrading football equipment,
equipment for high school teams often lags several years behind the introduction of more modern designs
for college or pro ball.

Two sources you might want to check would be rules governing protective equipment as mandated by
the athletic division / section / conference / federation in which your school competed through the years.
Your school's AD or those of competing schools, or the division HQ itself, should have that information.
Another thing to check would be the photo archives of your area's newspaper's sports pages, as well as
any archive your school has of yearbooks and class newspapers.

Lastly, you might also want to put out a call for your school's former players or coaches who could be contacted
through your school's alumni association or reunion committees.
