I am a former lawyer, so I thought I would give you my thoughts. It sounds like if you don't have the right guy, the Gilliam family now would have a lot more ammo to sue you for posting their personal information with no due process than you would have for suing Billy. Saying vulgar things about people is cruel, but as long as it didn't cause you substantial monetary harm that you can prove, or threaten you, unfortunately that speech is not illegal.
