Here is my favorite Hank Aaron piece of the dozen or so in my collection . In 1993 I was in a consignment shop searching in a large box containing posters and I came across a box labeled “ Sports Illustrated “ . My curiosity got the best of me ( I was thinking swimsuit edition posters ) but inside the box were 100 rolled in plastic posters of this scene . I asked the store clerk how much and he said $1 each , so I paid the $100 and immediately called my baseball memorabilia partner . He is in Atlanta and I live near there and we had an in with the Braves and Aaron’s agent . After about 6-8 months of working around Aaron’s schedule , and let me tell you Aaron was one very busy and in demand person , we arranged to meet Aaron and his agent at old Fulton County Stadium where he would sign 200 items for us at the fee of $20 - $ 50 per item depending on the item. Aaron remarked that the full size posters directly from SI were something that he’d not signed before and he signed each one in the same spot but no inscriptions only his name .
We framed 40 , foam board mounted 20 , and rolled 20 to sell and we kept 20 each.
This is still my favorite Aaron item I’ve seen and it’s not common in this larger size and in original condition, even the ball in flight is outlined .
Sorry for the flip on the photos . I’ll correct later .
