Seeing that Reggie Smith card reminds me. In 1981 Reggie Jackson Goose Gossage and Dave Winfield (all HOF) lost to a Dodgers team that included Fernando Valenzuela, Steve Garvey & Reggie Smith.
Not quite the 1970s, but many from that Dodgers team would qualify for the Hall of Very Good.
