Default As a seller, you still have to be careful accepting PP F&F

I've only had one issue with PP F&F (I think it was called PayPal Gift back then). A few years ago, I sold some silver bullion on another forum for a large amount. I sent the bullion insured with tracking, but it never showed as delivered (the last status showed Out for Delivery). I waited and waited hoping it would show up, but it didn't so I filed an insurance claim with the USPS. It got rejected because I couldn't prove the value of the contents. Since the funds were sent as F&F (or Gift), there was really no record that a transaction had occurred and that the contents were worth the amount that I claimed them to be. I appealed the decision, but it was a hassle. I had to capture screen shots and PM's with dates proving that a transaction had occurred, but I finally won.

USPS didn't care about the payment method, they just wanted to make sure the package was worth what I claimed it to be...which to me was ridiculous. If I want to send a pair of stinky socks to someone and insure them for $1000, that should be my right. I shouldn't have to prove value, but that's a different story.

As far as what happened to the bullion, I think the buyer was in cahoots with his postal carrier. I found out that I wasn't the only forum member that had packages disappear (showing Out for Delivery) with the same buyer. He didn't last long.
