Ted ZanidakisMine is an unforgetable moment on Oct 1, 1949. It was "do or die" for the Yankees vs the Red Sox on a "Saturday in New York".
My new found hero was Johnny Lindell, who hit the game winning HR in the 8th......and, my other hero was Joe Page, who relieved
Allie Reynolds and pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing only 1-hit, to shut down the Red Sox. On Sunday, at Fenway, the Yanks clinched
the Pennant. I was 10 years old then, but I recall this event as it was just yesterday.
