Trying to put together a SET of these GOUDEY cards in 1933 was quite a frustrating experience. Certain lower number cards were not available in the Spring
and Summer of 1933. The
10th sheet was printed in mid October, and these cards were issued from November to December 1933. The bios on the backs of
them reflect the 1933 World Series between the NY Giants and Washington. I have arranged the cards from my set to exactly simulate this 24-card sheet

This diagram of the back of 10th sheet cards reveals the story of when 15 (of the 22) mysterious lower numbered cards where finally issued.
Card #'s 97, 98, 99, 128, 129, and 142 were printed on the 9th sheet. And, of course #106 (Lajoie) was printed on the 1934 GOUDEY Hi # sheet that was
issued in the Summer of 1934 which finally completed this 240-card set.
T'was a clever marketing trick that Goudey played on collectors in order to sell a lot of cards in 1933....but, it was also a very "mean" trick on the collectors.
** Note....In the simulated sheet arrangement I mistakenly switched the cards of Manush (#107) and Kuhel (#108). This will be corrected.
