Default An Appreciation: The 1933 American League Champion Washington Senators

I had read about the Walter Johnson-led teams of 1942-25, but had to go look up the 1933 team when it was mentioned last night as the last time the World Series had been played in the nation's capital.

99 wins
4 Hall-of-Famers
26-year-old player/manager

they lost 4 games-to-1 to the New York Giants

Mel Ott hit a first inning, two-run homer in the first inning of game one (and went 4-for-4) and hit a 10th inning go-ahead solo shot to win the finale.

Carl Hubbell gave up three runs (none earned) in two starts.
