Teams that participated in the Baseball Championships from 1878 (3rd part) In the first two parts I published the names of the teams until 1900, at the beginning of Cuban Baseball on the island the acceptance of this sport among Cubans was very important , and apart from that 1st championship, other championships were played with the names of First Prize, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, that is: at the end of the Cuban Championship, several teams would then meet to compete for the 2nd Prize, 3rd etc. , many times with the teams that played in the official Championship, but also others with the names that I mentioned in the first two parts of this work, in the 80s of the 19th century, despite the fact that the population did not reach two million inhabitants , baseball was very popular and in some years more than 300 teams were officially registered, in 1886 the weekly El Sport invited the teams that had played in the Cuban championship to a competition with the name of Campeo born from Cuba from El Sport, which was won by the Almendares team and the Champion Bat was Francisco Delabat, and he was awarded a bat with the inscription on a plaque that says: Champion Bat de Cuba 1886 F.
