Zero taxes are due Uncle Sam when you buy a card at auction, if anywhere else; you may have to pay state sales tax, which can be substantial, and you may be able to avoid that buying directly from a collector or a smaller outfit.
Personally, I would look to AHs, and be patient - they will have the biggest selection and you know you are paying FMV. Otherwise, I agree that connections made through net54 is a very solid option, but may take more time.
