James FeaginOne of the wonderful aspects of baseball cards are the memories and attachments associated with them. Looking at a card can help us feel closer to a time, a place, or person. I will never ever give up my 1981 Topps Manny Sanguillen in Poor condition. It was the first card my dad ever bought for me at a flea market for 25cents when I was 9. I used to look at that card for hours. I think the same goes true for those who knew Frank Nagy. For those who knew him or of him, it is a nice sentiment and evokes fond memories. However, it is necessary for us to place a proper perspective on these things. All cards are on temporary loan to us, at some point they will outlive us and go on to other hands. It's a nice token to think who they came from, but in the end, dozens of other collectors will have the cards we can be so posessive over in the future. It really doesn't matter who had the card before us, but how we will share the hobby, our collection, and ourselves with collectors to come.
