I believe the photos that are stamped "Examiner Reference Library" on the back are actually from the San Francisco Examiner, one of the first large newspaper photo archives to be broken up and sold to the public in recent years. Though based out of Chicago, George Burke's photographs found their way into many archives across the country in the 1930's and 1940's, including the Examiner.
