Default Deacon Phillippe

Here's Deacon Phillippe's signature on a government postcard from 1948. He sure had an interesting career. He grew up in the Dakota Territory before it split into to and became a state. It was so remote that big league talent evaluators didn't find him until he moved to Minnesota.

Phillippe threw his first pitch in the majors two months before his 27th birthday. He still put up six 20-win seasons. He still holds the record for lowest walk per nine rate and many World Series records. Here's a story about how his late big league start probably cost him a chance at Cooperstown.

This Phillippe signature is on CooperstownExpert.com on Phillippe's page. The autograph site has pages for every Hall of Famer and a few hundred other guys.
