According to nonohitters.com, Padre starters went into the 8th inning or later with a no-hitter intact, 20 times, before finally giving up a hit. Two other times, a starter was pulled without giving up a hit, only for a reliever to blow it.

Clay Kirby - 7 1/3 innings
Clay Kirby - 7 innings
Steve Arlin - 8 2/3 innings
Randy Jones - 7 1/3 innings
Dave Friesleben - 7 innings
Tom Griffin - 7 innings
Brent Strom - 7 innings
Bob Owchinko - 7 1/3 innings (perfect game)
Greg Harris - 7 innings
Andy Benes - 7 innings
Andy Ashby - 8 innings
Sterling Hitchcock - 7 innings
Adam Eaton - 7 innings
Chris Young - 7 innings
Chris Young - 8 1/3 innings
Chris Young - 7 2/3 innings
Odrisamer Despaigne - 7 2/3 innings
Tyson Ross - 7 2/3 innings
Jordan Lyles - 7 1/3 innings
Chris Paddack - 7 innings

Clay Kirby - 8 innings; pulled; Jack Baldschun gave up a hit
Andy Benes - 7 innings; pulled; Mike Maddux gave up a hit

So Joe Musgrove's is the 21st time a Padres starting pitcher has gone into the 8th or 9th innings with a no-hitter.

I've been a Padres fan their entire major league history; I remember going to games in 1970, when I was 7 years old. I've been waiting for this day practically my entire life! Damn, IT FEELS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BLACKJACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
