Super happy for Daryl, Powell, and the other winning bidders to have the option to close out their deals. Happy for ML and the consignors too.

Plus, of course, that the later recovery of the items does not change that they hosted a fake auction for items they did not have. I’m not sure if folks just do not understand the actual objections or are willfully ignoring the actual objections made to try and frame it as if eventual recovery is contradictory to the dissenters statements and proof positive that those against the undeniable lies are inherently wrong.

Default recovery of stolen cards

First and foremost, GREAT news on the recovery of the stolen cards. I
look forward to a much more thorough explanation of events.

Idea for punishment of thief- he must serve all the Old Fashioneds and Ambien
combos to RepublicaninMass before he posts his ridiculous comments. On
second thought, that's cruel and unusual... Jail time must suffice!

Recovery of the cards is great for the consigners and the winning bidders. But it changes nothing about whether or not ML made unwise and/or unethical decisions along the way.

Reminds me of why poker can often be so profitable. Player A turns a straight and moves all in for $10k with one card to come in a $1k pot. Player B has a flush draw and calls the $10k bet. River card brings the flush. Player B celebrates and half the table tells him he made the right call because he caught his flush.

Are you okay? You’re so over the top in this thread it’s weird, invoking religious prejudice, your class bullshit, constant willful misstatement of what you’re arguing against. Why are you taking this so personally and lashing out so nonsensically?

From the SCD article: Jacob Paxton, 27, of Brunswick, OH, was arrested Wednesday and is facing felony theft charges.

Leon, no Net54 membership for this fellow!

Glad they tracked down the cards (52 of the 54) and made the arrest. On a side note, I am positive that Memory Lane has revised their 'shipping to event' procedures.

Pretty amazing. For anyone not interested in the article it sounds like he tried to sell a few to a local dealer.

Memory Lane expects to receive the stolen cards fairly soon and will allow the winning bidders to complete payment if they desire.

The article said the two missing cards had a value of $90,000, the Matty went for $145,000 so I think he's safe.

Also pretty sure the culprit will do everything he can to get the location of those two cards to the police. Anything to mitigate at this point.

For the most part, the final resolution is about the best that could have been hoped for.

The consignors get the value they deserved, the bidders get the cards they wanted at the price they were willing to pay, the auction house gets their commission, and most importantly, the thief will likely spend some significant time in jail.

Thankfully, those landmark cards are not lost to the hobby; that would have been a shame.

It figures ML silence had to be related to the investigation - happy they're able to make (nearly) everyone whole again.

Not a bad day for law enforcement in the hobby. This recovery, and the Anthony Curcio fake PSA slab arrest (https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.co...ver-2-million/).

o further their alleged fraud scheme, Curcio ordered several items necessary to create forged card cases and labels to pass off the cards as graded, court documents allege.

They included plastic holders, thermal transfer barcode labels, a magnifier loupe optical glass, a handheld inkjet printer, a lock-cutting kit, an electric grinding pen, an abrasive buffer and polishing wheel, an abrasive and bristle brushes and drill bits designed for engraving, prosecutors said.

“Anthony Curcio and Iosif Bondarchuk carried out a brazen, nationwide fraud scheme involving valuable sports and Pokémon trading cards to deceive buyers and marketplaces, ultimately amassing over $2 million in fraudulent and attempted sales,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement. “Curcio and Bondarchuk allegedly sold and tried to sell at inflated prices cards of various professional athletes, including, among others, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Nolan Ryan, Larry Bird, Julius Erving, and Magic Johnson, as well as various valuable Pokémon cards.

Hmmmm.. I bet it's a lot more than $2 million if it went on for years.

That was my biggest concern, that the thief would have dumped the cards when he felt the police closing in.

In a perhaps ironic twist, this isn't Curcio's first runin with the law either.

Summarized life of crime story, if the same person:

1. Gambling business gets shut down by local authorities for no permitting
2. Next forges prescription labels (apparently practice for PSA flips)
3. Then Burn Notice-style robs armored truck security guard of $400K in BoA cash (spends 6 years in prison where he pens 20 kids books and a multi-award winning memoir on his addiction and robbery) then makes a business out of inspirational speaking akin to ‘Catch me if you can’
4. Now expands career (age 43) to a $2MM+ sports/Pokemon card PSA holder manipulation scheme

Prediction for his next book: ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life, Steal From Others to Ease the Strife’

Super happy for Daryl, Powell, and the other winning bidders to have the option to close out their deals. Happy for ML and the consignors too.
Ans it's all searched racks and cellos, they get an hour off for any hyped rookie they find from each set.
