Default SOLD Fidel Castro & Baseball in Cuba

1959 Cuba Havana Sugar Kings Ticket Booklet

Note - they did NOT have tickets in their season ticket booklet for the Exhibition Game Fidel Castro played. There were special tickets printed for that game.
I've only seen 1 or 2, ULTRA RARE.

BUT.......the next best thing is this. Also, quite RARE, never seen ANY of these before.
A ticket booklet with many tickets remaining from that historic 1959 season where Castro played, and they went on to win the Little World Series.....
over the Minneapolis Millers led by a 20-year old Carl Yastrzemski.

Great read on Castro & the Sugar Kings here:

https://sabr.org/.../the-short-but-e...ife-of-the.../

excerpt:
"However, 1959 also saw growing unease by certain American players and International League team owners.
American players were still well received and no particular hostility was displayed but the presence of armed revolutionaries, often at the field, was somewhat ominous."

and on the Little World Series:
"Each game had a party-like atmosphere and the new government took every opportunity to share the spotlight.
Castro threw out the ceremonial first pitch of Game Three. Several heads of state and dignitaries such as Che Guevera watched Game Four from designated box seats and Castro,
blurring lines more than could be expected, sat in the dugout during the Sugar Kings’ Game Six loss. While no violence was reported, members of the Millers,
including manager Gene Mauch, reported intimidation and generalized unease at the environment."

A neat little relic of Cuban baseball history.

$250 shipped (pix of Castro not included just taken from internet)
