I'm not even close to being an expert on the n172 Old Judge set, but do find some things interesting about it. In my opinion, one of the more interesting things about this set is that the makers would give players a "different" jersey by adding the name in a line across the front of another team's jersey. I assume that the cards were made this way because the maker's had no image of a certain player in a certain teams uniform at the time of production of the cards.
Here is a card that exhibits what I am speaking about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1887-N172-Ol...item2c74cc4661 I also know of the following cards: -O'Rourke (Jersey City) -Rooks (Detroit) -Pettee (London) -Blair (Hamilton) Does anyone know of any other cards for this "subset?" Travis |

I am not sure of the answer Travis, but it is interesting that the player is quite light and the team name across his jersey is so dark.

There are a large number of team changes in the set and they represent some of the toughest teams to find in the set. Mansfield, Burlington, New Haven and Rochester all have one player in the set and all are reissued poses. The Burlington card in this scan fits your criteria and the Alcott has the previous team name erased. One of my favorite with the name added is Sam Thompson/Philly.
