As things evolve in the hobby so do our collecting interests. For personal reasons I am starting to focus on only 20th Century type cards. I might continue a few sets (D303 and 1916 W-Unc Big Heads) but am scaling back a little bit...with respect to money being spent (well, except for the D304 Cobby)......Your current focus? |

I have abandonded type collecting as Leon can attest to...it's quite costly. I've been selling some of my types and will be selling more soon. I now collect cards that I like...period! I feel liberated...rejuvenated...and born again. |

My current focus is to chip away at the C46 and 1911 Obak sets as well as completing my zeenut run. I also want to work on obtaining period PCL cards for each player in the PCL Hall of Fame though that may prove a formidable task given that Joe DiMaggio is in the Hall. |

I have a two tier collection. First I have my "must buy when I see it available" part. That collection consists of my Pinkerton postcards, 1923 exhibits and Dietsche postcards. |

Previously I wanted and collected almost any pre 1930 20th century cards, but found it somewhat maddening always wanting. I've scaled back my collecting to the sets below to try to keep things under control. However, I still do stray from time to time. |

Lately I've been really trying to find a nice Mayo Cut, maybe a 3 or 4. I've also wanted a Ramly HOFer for such a long time. I have to say though, I've been contemplating putting together a nice high grade, 6 at the least, Diamond Star set lately. I just love this issue. |

I tried the "nifty fifty", i.e. cards that would constitute my core collection. After going through the database marking each of the "nifty fifty" I ended up with 263! Somethings got to give. |

I like 19th century BB stuff. My niche is collecting pre-1950 "photographic" cards (not lithos). My favorites are N172, T222, T200, 1920s Exhibits, 1940PB. Sure I'd like to pick up a K-bats or something like that but the surgical cost of having one of my testicles removed and the cost of the card is more than I can part with. |

My focus has been put on my HOF Collection. Basically, I'm just looking for cards that look cool to me. I'm also looking to start a new prewar set, but haven't chosen one yet. I'm thinking of starting one that has 50 or less cards. I've worked hard on the T205 set a couple times, but found myself too aggravated 3/4 of the way through it. |

At the risk of sounding like the infamous Peter C... I love Catcher poses and Tobacco Cards with a beautiful sky (not kidding). I find many of the tobacco cards to be incredibly artistic with an orange-yellow sunset, puffy clouds or even a pink-colored sky. |

I wish I had a focus.....just about everything interests me. My recent "focus" has been to upgrade many of my cards. Regarding baseball, E254's have been my primary pursuit for about the last year (but I have been working on that set since 1995). I collect football as well. My primary football interests recently have been 1948 to 1955 issues and oddball vintage items. |

I am collecting every year in Cleveland's existance, so generally most cards are Topps from 1952 until now with a spattering of Bowman in the 50s and a spattering of Donruss, Fleer, and Upper Deck, etc. in the 80s and later. A nice ecclectic binder indeed. Prewar cards are simply whatever I can find from that year, but as in all years, it is not necessary for the player to be in a Cleveland uniform. For example, Roger Maris's RC is the 1958 Topps card, but he was actually in the opening day lineup in 1957. That poses a problem for my 1957 Opening Day Lineup if there isn't a card! |

My collecting habits continue to focus on the Red Sox only. Within that focus, I would like to acquire as many type cards of Sox players in a Sox uniform as possible, while building a few team sets along the way. I finished the T206 Sox set, have one to go for the '33 Goudey set, and three remain for both the R305 Tattoo Orbit and E90-1 sets. |

I've changed to have SOME focus...I mainly go after tobacco cards now with a concentration on T206. I will occasionally pick up cards of HOFers and stars from caramel or obscure issues. I will be letting go of many prewar cards in the near future...mainly those that do not fit in my focus areas. |

I don't know what I am. I was a T206 collector, back collector, caramel card collector, set collector, HOF collector, back to set collector, 19th century, etc. Basically I just collect the cards I like. Often that seems to mean complete sets. Right now I am working on a few pre-WWII sets. I also have moved more seriously into 1950's and 1970's Topps. '70's Topps is where it all began for me, so it is a bit nostalgic. When I first started going to shows (1979), I was collecting '50's and '60's Topps mostly. So I guess it just goes in circles. Maybe Leon will be looking for a 4BH Kelly soon. |

As you can well tell by what I have been listing on the B/S/Ts I am liquidating some odds and ends. I was trying to build sets of most mainstream issues, but I am focausing on HOF type cards from various sets. Trying to get a collection down to managebble amount of graded singles. Still will build 50-60s sets. |

I started by collecting a wide range of type cards of seven major league catchers: Roger Bresnahan, George Gibson, Red Kleinow, Johnny Kling, Chief Meyers, Gabby Street, and Ira Thomas. Since I display much of my collection, I tried to select types that were visually attractive. Decided to collect a good mix of cards, cabinets, blankets, pins, photos, magazine supplements, stamps, and silks. |

I have two habits: 1) I buy Pirates reflexively. 2) I buy up at least one card of every player who I've ever heard of. Insofar as I am able to focus, I am working on those black and white photo cards from the teens and early twenties. |

Assembling a lower-grade T206 set and maintaining a limited collection of no more than 34 non-T206's have been my focuses for the last year or so, but I must admit that my dedication to the Monster is starting to waver. I still love the set, but it's simply taken a back seat to what I call my Finite Collection, which is based on the same idea as Al's Nifty Fifty. But instead of a 50-card limit, I set the cap at my age, which happens to be 34 right now. |

I was trying to collect the e93 and e98 set, but stopped a while ago and I haven't baught a card in almost 1 year. I've been trying to cut back, but I would still like to collect as many low grade e98 Mathewsons I can and I would also like to get a low grade e94 Wagner and Young. If I could, then i would stop collecting for a long time. |

I am focusing on T206 (my goal is to be 20% of the way to a near set of 518 by the end of 2008) and thinking about starting E93. I am likely going to discontinue my pre-war Brooklyn team collecting and instead focus on mostly post war Brooklyn's instead (from the Durocher era forward; 1939-1957). |

I'm only about 12-13 cards away from completing my HOF collection, but have sort of hit the wall because of the expense. Plan on doling out the bucks for perhaps 1-2 cards a year unless I get lucky (finding something cheap in lousy but acceptable condition). A bit boring not buying much, but enjoying not spending much right now! Patience, patience... |

When I started vintage almost 20 years ago, it was with the intent of collecting a complete set of t206s. Nineteen years in to it, and still about 300 cards short, I wasn't willing to give up on the cards, just change the goal ... all the cards I could find with the rubber stamp of Howe McCormick on the back. So in May of last year, I sold almost 200 of the cards, kept one of each of the 15 back types I had stashed away, and started over with just two cards. With the help of a lot of people on this board, as of this Monday, I'm back up to 35 cards. No idea how many Howe may have ever owned, and will probably never know. But this gives me an excuse to look at just about every card posted either on eBay, B/S/T, and auction houses, and still only have the desire or need to spend occasionally. It has become an obsession, though.... . The five latest on in the February Pick Up thread. |

The Graham my wife got me for Christmas is the second one of those. I noticed on Dave Levin's site that he sold a Camnitz, arms crossed with the backstamp at some time, but it is not the one I have, so that would be another. Guess the one I'm waiting to run across is a Moose McCormick with a Howe McCormick backstamp. |

I started out collecting Rookie Cards in the 1980's of guys like Mattingly and Boggs. Later I discovered that there were "older" cards, so I collected 40's, 50's, and 60's Rookie cards of guys like Mantle and Mays. Then I discovered that there were "really old" cards, so I sold my collection, and bought some of the rarest Rookie cards in existance. At one time I had E107's of Mathewson, Wagner, Plank, Waddell, Chesbro, Bender, Joss, Lajoie (Type 1 & 2), McGinnity, & Willis. (Holy $#!T, I didn't even realize that I had over 10 E107 HOFers until this post!) I also had 2 Peck & Snyders, N167 Ewing, Just So Tobacco Burkett, E90-1 Jackson, M101-5 Ruth, E135 Hornsby, etc. I had a nice Cuban/Puerto Rican card collection as well, with multiple cards of Charleston, Lloyd, Smith, Day, etc. Eventually I realized that my collection was too valuable to keep, so I sold it off privately piece by piece. I have since started collecting Boxing Cards. The focus of my collection is "Real Photo" cards of the 4 Heavyweight Champions of the 1890's: John L. Sullivan, Jim Corbett, Bob Fitzsimmons, and Jim Jeffries. |

My main focus is and probably always will be Detroit players. I have most of the main sets covered but still need an example from a few main sets and almost all of the rarer issues. I am starting to go sideways in a few sets - meaning buying my second, third or fourth Detroit player in that set. |
