The scan is kind of blurry, but it looks 1940s to me. |

I just missed out on an early thirties Foxx blotter (tennis shoes) a couple weeks ago. If any one in here, bought it, I will give you double what you paid for it. If you are in here, you know which one I mean. Thanks in advance. Hope this isn't out of line Leon. I'm desperate |

Mike, he's still got that thing listed on his website - I was just looking earlier today. I would love to get my hands on that D&M baseball display he has, but it's out of my price range. |

I spoke to him, and he sold it a while back. Sort of a pet peeve of mine, is dealers who never adjust their web site. I know a very succesful dealer who sells a ton of stuff, and hasn't updated his site in months. Drives me a bit nuts. If I was a dealer, and I am not, that is one thing I would keep up to date |

I don't really know much about it. Both cards measure about the size of the typical blotter- 3 1/2 x 5 1/2. (I don't have it in front me to measure exactly) The top card is printed on thick cardboard and also glued to a thick piece of blue cardboard. The bottom card is missing the blue cardboard, but has remnants of the blue cardboard on the back. Also, the top card has very detailed printing (with a very clear union mark), whereas the bottom card is a little blurry (the union mark is smeared). |

I won a John Evers blotter on ebay last week. Know nothing about it. Took a chance that it was authentic. Any idea on value (assuming it's real)? |

In the era of the fountain pen you would dip the nib of your pen into an inkwell and continuously fill it with ink. It was very messy and a blotter came in handy...and no, I am not that old! |

Thanks Barry, it looks like maybe only the Maltine one above was used for that purpose. I guess that would mean the blotter died with the advent of the ballpoint pen? |

I think people often used only the blank side of the blotter. My Maltine ad has about 100 times as much fountain pen ink on the back as it does on the side I posted above. They do still make them today, but obviously they are no longer a standard household/office item. |

Yes, I think the Bic pen ended the age of the blotter. |
