Default 1921 Exhibits Babe Ruth

I have a 1921 Exhibits Babe Ruth with a stamped autograph on it. I have contacted both PSA and SGC about having it slabbed and labelled, "Authentic" "Stamped Auto" Both say they cannot slab a card like that. They both agree card is authentic but since autograph is stamped they can't slab the card. I'd like to get it protected. Any suggestions?

Thank you

I'm surprised they won't at least slab it and say "Authentic". What's the difference whether someone stamped their name on the back or a stamped Ruth signature on the front? They could even label it Authentic MK if they wanted. They aren't really saying anything about the signature either way. It doesn't make sense to me.

Me neither, but both PSA and SGC both refused to slab it. They both sent letters stating that the card was authentic. SGC was at the National in Cleveland when i asked them and they thought it was a go until their legal department got involve. They wouldn't explain why.

That doesn’t make any sense you would think PSA would grade it with a mark.

They're afraid an unscrupulous seller will claim a grade of "Authentic" means the autograph is authentic, would be my guess.

Yes I am sure they are very concerned that some unscrupulous seller would over inflate and misrepresent something graded by them.

From a legal standpoint, not a moral one

I sold someone a signed card and it came back graded as a psa 3mk.

They swore up and down the "mk" was because the signature was not real.

I had to highlight PSA's rule saying if an auto is determined to be a facsimile or forgery, the card will not be holder.

On the flip side...
I believe scammers already had their way with buyers over actually signed "reprint" 86 fleer Jordan's. Since the flip said "authentic", buyers thought the card and auto was legit.

Probably, but you would think there would be a way to do it and still be safe and transparent.
