70 Years Ago Today-Mickey Mantle Debuts for the Yankees on Opening Day
Like many top prospects, The Mick was only 19 when he made his debut, batting third ahead of Joe DiMaggio. He singled in the bottom of the 6th inning, driving in Jackie Jensen who led off the inning with a double and had advanced to third ahead of him. This image was taken either on April 17 or 18, 1951 as it was dated after the Yanks had caught a train to DC for a road trip.

As Iconic as his Number Seven is, a part of me does wish he was able to keep number Six! Would have resulted in a different username for myself as well

I'll post a card. Found in a garage sale when I was 10 years old (1971). Paid a penny for it.

Your card is still worth a penny - a pretty penny!
