Default T206 Southern Leaguer Backs

Is it possible to have anything besides Old Mill, Piedmont, or Hindu with any of the Southern/Texas leaguers? I just found it odd that PSA created a new registry master set of all of the Southern Leaguers and they noted that some of the players have Sweet Caporal, Sovereign, or Polar Bear backs.

Maybe some of the currently holdered SLers have been mislabeled with these erroneous backs?

No, sir. It isn't possible. You had it correct in your mind to start with.

I do think you last 'maybe' has merit.

Save us from the stuff that ends up on the net...

While we are on the subject of SLer backs -- as between Piedmont and Old Mill, which is more scarce? I used to always think Old Mill, but I have not seen too many Piedmont SLers lately. How close are those two as to scarcity on SLers?

Quick survey: I have 47 SLers.

Old Mill = 36
Piedmont = 11 (all P350)

Adam, the ratio of Piedmont to Old Mill backs among Southern Leaguers seems to depend on the individual player and whether they were among the earlier cards produced or came later in the Southern Leaguer series.

There was a very good discussion about this topic here:

Default T206 Southern Leaguer Backs

Mark,

There are some Southern League cards in circulation with blank backs. I have seen about 4 of them. The blank back T206 is the 9th scarcest back.

Default Southern League Blank Backs...

Seth's post begs the question, Who are the 4 players ? Does anyone have a list, past sold list of Southern Leaguer Blank backs ?? I recall possibly seeing 1 or 2 in the last few years, but can't remember who they were... I would be curious, if there are more...

Anyway, for those out there that might remember or can direct me to where the answer could be, Who are the Southern League Players with Blank Backs ?

I have owned Kiernan and Revelle with blank backs and have seen several other SLers with them.

Regards,
Scott

Most southern leaguers can be found with Hindu, Old Mill and Piedmont. Very few can be found with blank backs and brown Old Mill backs.

I am pretty sure these are the no Hindu southern leaguers
1. Bastian
2. Hart (Little Rock)
3. Hart (Montgomery)
4. Lentz (Sentz)
5. Miller
6. Orth
7. Smith (Atlanta)
8. Stark
9. Thebo
10. Westlake
11. White

I've never seen a blank back white border tobacco baseball card in person. For those of you who've seen the SLers with blank backs, did they all appear hand cut like the one above?? And do you recall or not?

Default Anthony S. has a Stark displayed

Anthony S. has a blank back T 206 Smith displayed in his cards for sale page on the BST section. D.

I have only seen a few blank backs. Southern and commons, all were hand cut. I don't ever recall seeing a HOFer.

To the SLers with blank backs I can add Breitenstein and LaFitte. I don't own them but these were offered for sale on the Old Net54 board back in October.

What is the most popular theory behind blank backed T206s?

Seems if there are only a very, very few blank back T206s, and they're all hand cut.... then it seems they must have been cut from a printer's sheet. Maybe scrap, maybe not. Maybe something left over that had the front printed but not the back.

What would be interesting is to see if they are all 350 or assorted's. That would target it in on contemporaneous cards. The SLers weren't being printed when the 150s or 460s were.

So maybe we need a list of known blank backs with front designs, to see what there is.

Well...it's not a SLer, but I do have a blank back McQuillan. Butchered but it is hand cut.
