Default Document - Program conservation

I picked these up at a Goldin Auction In October.

I was surprised that I was the only bidder. I know that these have condition issues, but the homecoming booklet is pretty rare. I'd like to conserve these esp the homecoming booklet.

There's more background on the homecoming program in these old listings:
https://goldinauctions.com/mobile/lo...coming-program

https://robertedwardauctions.com/auc...d-fred-pfeffer

According to the REA listing these were issued to people associated with tbe tour and dignitaries. I believe that my copy was issued to Danial Bolan. It's possible that the pair that I picked up is the same set from this Mears listing.

But I think Mears is incorrect. The book wasn't written by Danial Boland....it was issued to him.

The homecoming program has a suede leather cover. The book seems pretty solid but the cover that needs help.

Any suggestions about how best to conserve the homecoming book would be gratefully received.

Thanks,
Gary G01db3rg

At the time this was issued it was pretty common to have the owner's name embossed on the front in gold on leather covered books. So I think you're right, it's the owner's name not the author's name.

The Homecoming has a foreword by Ring Lardner making it also an early collectible of his. Nice book.
