Default BUNNY DOWNS (Died 1973) Autographed 1955 Negro Leagues Document

BUNNY DOWNS & J. EARLE HENSLEY Ledger page from a May 15th, 1955 Game between the Indianapolis Clowns and the New York Black Yankees. Measures 9x11 and details the attendance and conditions for the game. A player representative from each team has signed the document. Executed entirely in bold pencil a unique part of Negro League baseball history. Signed TWICE by Bunny Downs who was Negro leagues infielder and manager for several years before the founding of the first Negro National League, and in its first several seasons. His career spanned 1914-1928 serious consideration has been given Downs for the Baseball Hall of Fame he died in 1973. Earle Hensley was a longtime entertainment promoter who's clients featured Count Basie, B.B. King, Sam Cooke and others he died in 1992. $275.00
