Default A TP Grading Only Forum?

I know Leon has been hesitant to add new forums to the board, and I totally undertand the logic. But I was on Blowout last week (truth is I check them out maybe 4 times a year? Don't need all that insanity.) but noted they have a board dedicated to just PSA/SGC/Other Grading. I personally would love a stand along board here for posts just comments on TPG. I know some board members don't give the slightest crap about grading, and some others are very interested. In my mind it just seems to be further and further afield from what makes vintage collecting so great, and a lot of the discussions on grading just seem to go around and around and around.

Leon, NOT A COMPLAINT! And no I wouldn't want your role herding cats here for all the tea in China. Just a random thought.

Steve,

Could you imagine a topic dedicated to TPGs? First thing that comes to mind is the top subject being all the PSA bashing followed by the SGC (now PSA) bashing, followed by pick your TPG bashing. A lot of piling on, I'm sure.

However, it's an interesting thought because their is a direct relationship to vintage card collecting and TPGs.

I'd read that topic if it were available, but then I'd probably be at the top (or near the top) of chuckleheads that lead the bashing of the TPGs.

There could be good discussion about how the board feels about certain topics such as hand cut cards receiving numerical grades. Then there could also be threads about TPG grading specials or discussions on (wait for it) population reports (ralph) .

Interesting (not a bad) idea. If it wound up in the Watercooler Talk section, I'd probably forget it was there.

"A TP Grading Only Forum?"

First thing I thought after seeing the title was:

Who's grading Toilet Paper (TP)?????

That’s a little too much info. But I’d have to admit that I would be more likely to read a thread on grading toilet paper than more opinions on third party grading.

Cottonelle has a surprisingly good WAR (wipes above replacement).

If we're only going to post about post-war toilet paper can we move this thread to one of the post-war forums?

Some of us would like to discuss British Perforated Paper Company toilet paper and Scott’s Sno-tissue without the clutter of all this 2-ply talk.

As for more forums/sections - my thought is there should be fewer and not more.

I always appreciate suggestions to make the forum better though.

Maybe there could be a women's baseball forum?

I think it's overvalued in the hobby. Scott towel had just as good of a rookie season, and even better career.

Seems like we could add a few dozen different sub-forums, one for each of the primary off-topics around here. Just off the top of my head, we could include something like:
eBay
eBay authenticity guarantee
eBay shipping
eBay fees
eBay international nonsense
PSA grading scams
SGC is awesome, at least until the PSA goons took over
AHs, the good, the bad, and the ugly
AH fees and shipping costs, plus slow shipping complaints
The hobby - Why everyone else does it wrong
Making Money from cardboard - why it’s the root of all evil
Random rants about stuff we don’t like, but many of us do anyway

Our Hero!

Great idea Leon - when can we expect the women's basketball forum to be added?

Edited to add: Honestly, I didn't think it was a bad idea to have a TPG forum. If put to a vote, it'd be interesting, but Steve, I'm going to guess the vote wouldn't be very supportive.

The problem with the TPGs (toilet paper graders) is all collectors know that the very first roll they ever assessed clearly had sheets trimmed off to deceptively leave the 'end sheet' looking pristine, which led to the high grade.

It is widely believed that the esteemed roll only contains 180 to perhaps 190 sheets, no more.

Never understand how anyone can enjoy encapsulated rolls, sadly it’s all about money - my entire collection is raw
