Thoughts on keeping cards safe at home

Hello all...
I was wondering what is the best way to keep cards at home..Is there a recommeded Safe or other fire proof
ways to keep cards..Most of my rare ones are in a vault but obviously many are at home..

LOL.

Yeah, I've got most of my cards and stuff either displayed in my office at work (the easy to replace stuff and less valuable stuff), or in an old library card file cabinet at home.

I guess if I had a lot of cards worth hundreds or thousands each, I'd stick them in a bank vault, or hide them real well in my house.

Which brings up another question, how do most of you display your cards/memorabilia/etc...?

Or is it all locked up?

when Hurricane Ivan was on the way here, i was mighty grateful that i had
bought a safe and had it attached permanently to the floor in the storage room.
still, i packed my vintage cards up and took them in the car with me, along with medicines and money, and my wife.

The average fire proof box for home use probably will not protect from smoke damage. Most important papers are adequately protected, but "smoked" vintage cards are at best "authentic"!
