This card is coming up in a local auction and Ive been told this is a very rare card. Is there anywhere that I can go to get a value on this card? The card has some pin holes in the top of the card and it has been trimmed on the outside, but it is signed by the mick! Any help would be great! Thanks |

I would make sure the autograph is authentic before bidding on it. Even it is the condition of the card would probably determine the value and it sounds like it is in poor condition so I would not think it is worth much especially if you want it for resale. CN |

I agree with CN. Also, the 1960 Post is one of those oversized jobs, not the usual horizontal cereal cards you might be used to seeing. Those pinholes in the top are probably from somebody pinning it to a wall or corkboard, etc. Re being trimmed -- aren't they ALL trimmed?...they're cut from a box! |

Vanessa, I couldn't locate the item on ebay. Can you provide a link? Look, that card in raw VG goes for about $750 (2007 SCD cat.) The way you describe yours is nowhere near that, like a Poor, if gradeable at all. If you really want something with his autograph there are several nice autographed items up there to bid on that are real AND clean, and much cheaper. |

Vanessa, it sounds like you have quite a bit of liquid cash to throw around on autographs. How long have you been collecting sportscards, etc? |

The item number for the one that is buy it now for three thousand is:110165284894 The seller is:bjmcavoy. By the way, I didnt even tell you guys how much the minimum bid is on the item. So why give me crap about paying to much for it when I havent even bought the thing yet? Would you pay $50 to $75 for a authintic mickey mantle sig.? Thats probably what I'm going to buy it for! |

Checked the url. I don't see anything about a psa cert for the signature which is a facsimile autograph anyway. McAvoy would never sell that as a real autographed item. Am I missing something? |

Vanessa - no one is giving you "crap" at all. People here assume by your post that you are asking for advice. In this case, it is a good thing we did assume that, because: |

Did I miss something. I thought Vanessa provided that link as an example of the card she is interested in, not the actual card. |

Vanessa, has this auction happened yet? I'd be interested in the outcome when it does. Good luck with it. |

No the auction is tuesday night. I went back by to look at the item and noticed that there is a minimum bid of $300. So I probably wont be bidding on the card. |

Hey I went by the auction to take another look at this card and told the shop owner kind of what is being said on this forum about the value of the card. He said he will pay a thousand bucks a piece for any 60 post cereal mantle that I can find! He is that sure of its rarity and value. So if anyone has these cards out here ge in ouch wih me and we will sell them. |

These cards are not rare, I've got two of them and I paid an average of $50 each for them. A harder card to find is the '62 Post Roger Maris, it is also very desirable because it shows Maris' 1961 stats, and of course he hit 61 homers in 1961. |

that seems odd to me. He's willing to pay $1000 apiece, apparently regardless of condition, but he will sell one for $300.00 autographed if the minimum bid takes it. What's wrong with this picture? |

Todd - nothing wrong with the picture - people sell expensive stuff on ebay all the time with a 0.99 opening. Just because the bidding starts there doesn't mean it will end there. |

in general, but here we have a local auction, presumably in Arkansas, not an ebay or National auction, where the seller may get stuck selling an autogrpahed Mantle for $300. I would think that if he was savvy, he would sell that piece on ebay, and maybe all the $1000 Mantles he would supposedly buy would end up there, who knows. Just seems odd to me, that's all. |

Ok the post mantle sold for opening bid of $300. I researched this item extensively since I posted the first thread, and couldnt find a reason to buy that piece for the three hundred dollar price. I trust this card shop owner and have a great deal of respect for him! He is a very well known card dealer who has been doing this longer than I've been alive, but I think he missed the boat on this item. Thanks to all who contributed though. He did get a really nice piece in today: An authintic 1920s signed baseball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gherig! He will be pricing this to me tomorrow. |
